TLDR The developer wins by keeping a pipeline open to the consumer and giving the illusion of progress. I applaud their strategy, it's brilliant and keeps the game free. For every user that reads the steam forums and realizes "Earth is impossible to complete" there are 20 that don't and will give in to buy the microtransaction. However, from a development standpoint they'd still rather corner you into extremely slow progression that increases the probability of impulse gold purchases. The monthly events have become a fantastic "taste" of how quickly gold can speed up progress.

I'd presume the code for AdCap is pretty darned simple and could be copy pasted with a few variables modified.

They could roll out an update with more planets with relatively little effort. For most people who know "Earth is impossible" Mars is just an icon on the interface with no point. Another planet that takes 6-12 months to complete or B. They're not going to close that pipeline until they have either A. By having unfinished business, they keep the pipeline to the consumer open. They want you to keep opening their game whether it's hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or every couple months. What happens when you finally "beat adcap?" You get a congratulatory screen? The developers are intelligent and don't want that. Mars on the other hand? When was the last time you actually checked Mars? I probably check it every other month to see if I can reset. I'll forget about it for awhile then come back, have a fairly big leap (I'm at around 5400 newspapers/2700 oxygen bars) and play again for a few days. I don't plan to spend more than I have as I believe $1.99 is a fair price for the experience I've had.įirst ask yourself this: why do you keep playing? Because you have so much time invested and its become a daily thing. All they really have to do to fix it is add boosts after you hit the "dark zone" of non-progress. They're anything but incompetent and know the issue exists. If the lifecycle of AdCap is nearing its end they're going to want AdCap players to finish happy and move on to the next game. Gives them even more reason to eventually fix it from a marketing standpoint. If they fix it.so far they haven't.doubt they will now they have other games they are creating. Even if the game is simple and unbeatable, they provide regular enough content that I don't mind waiting for them to fix the end-game Earth. Regardless of how "glitched" the game is, I still enjoy it and have no problem throwing a couple bucks the developers way.
