Azazel also possesses a tail sweep attack resembling Roger Jr.'s Azazel, however, whips it twice in a row. Azazel has some moves that are similar to other bosses in the series, such as a stun (similar to Jinpachi Mishima's stun attack) and the ability to fire lasers (similar to Devil, Angel, and Devil Jin's) towards the opponent, in an attack resembling True Ogre's fire breath. In Tekken 6's arcade mode, the crystal boulder combo is changed into a rocks and boulders combo.

In one of her victory animations, Zafina seems to struggle with Azazel to maintain full control of her body.Īzazel appears to have the ability to summon crystal boulders from the ground to attack the opponent, as well as to keep them away from it, and summons numerous crystal scarabs that attack the opponent. However, Azazel's power within her gradually begins to increase, leading Zafina to believe that if she does not finish the two evil stars, Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, for good, Azazel will be resurrected again.Īzazel's presence can be seen in Zafina's updated moveset, and manifests itself as Zafina's corrupted left arm that can become a fully-fledged arm of Azazel in combat. Learning this, Zafina successfully performs a ritual to contain the beast within her. In Zafina's story in Tekken 7, it is revealed that although the demon was seemingly destroyed, Azazel barely escaped extinction in spirit form. Jin is later seen in the desert with his devil brand still in tact howver, at least indicating that the devil curse has not been lifted with Azazel's apparent defeat.

The outcome of the battle is not shown, but it is assumed that Azazel has been destroyed. Without warning, Jin punches his fist straight through Azazel's chest and the two of them plummet into the abyss below. Azazel fires countless beams of energy at Jin, only for them to be deflected away.

Jin's Devil Gene then partially activates and he runs toward Azazel. Jin explained to Lars that Azazel can only be destroyed by someone that carries the Devil Gene. As Jin and Lars fight outside the temple, Jin fully explained his motives to Lars before Azazel bursts out from the ground beneath them, stronger than ever before. This, however, is later revealed to have been a ruse in order to gather more strength. Azazel was defeated, however, and, too injured to continue the battle, seemingly self-destructed.

It states that the time has now come for it to destroy humanity so that they can atone for having brought the world to the brink of destruction. During the fight, Azazel revealed that it is known as the "Rectifier of All Things", and that its present ressurection is a result of the sins of mankind. Once awakon, Azazel faced Lars Alexandersson and Raven in battle. Despite the efforts of Lars Alexandersson and many others, Jin successfully caused Azazel to awaken by using the Mishima Zaibatsu to initiate global warfare. His knowledge, however, came from Azazel itself, who whispered to him telepathically during in its slumber. Jin believed that Azazel was the root of the Devil Gene and that destroying the demon would eliminate the devil curse from himself and Kazuya. A prophecy was passed down among Zafina's clan that stated that Azazel would awaken and destroy the world when "two dark stars" clash in battle.Īzazel also has some sort of connection with the Devil Gene: according to Devil Jin, "the source of their power is the same", and Azazel's Orb is shown to be able to give or absorb Devil powers in some characters' endings. It was imprisoned in the very temple that was once built in its name, which seems to have ended up disappearing from the mortal plane entirely as a result of the magic (according to Devil Jin, "some spatial distortion" was to be expected due to the strength of the seal). Azazel was imprisoned in a tomb behind a magical seal by Zafina's ancient ancestors. It also sees itself as a neutral agent of justice and judgement, meting out destruction on humanity in proportion to the destruction that humans themselves have caused.Īt some point, humans rebelled and overthrew Azazel. Other characters will also mention how Azazel ruled over humans "thousands of years ago." From its Scenario Camapaign dialogues, Azazel seems to believe itself to be a god. Not much about Azazel's history is known, but, according to Mokujin in Tekken 6 Scenario Campaign, Azazel long ago reigned over the heavens and earth as their ruler, and, according to Jin Kazama, Azazel was known as the "Rectifier".
